After scrambling in Der Schloss, we arrive back at the university and wait for my host family to come. We had emailed a little back and forth, my host mom is Christine. She has 2 children: a daughter Antonia, 20 and a son Jonas, 22. They are both in different countries right now so I expect to meet them later. When I first met Christine, she hugged me and looked me in the eyes. "Wilkommen in Berlin", she says. She is spunky and energetic, an awesome attribute but a little much seeing how exhausted I was. She has had 10 international students stay with her in 5 years so is very used to hosting students and helping them out with adjustments. She showed me around her beautiful flat, located right next to the subway station. She is into art and history, and explained to me the historical significances about the flat building. She invited me to the movies, but also saw how exhausted I was and understood the travel exhaustion. (She loves traveling). She asked how my German was and in a state of delirium, grammatically slaughtered some sort of German response. Being the sweet person she is, put me to bed and decided to postpone our language practice. She did mention she will be adamant about speaking German with me. Good for practice!
